In this episode dubbed, “The Greatest Pod on Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever” we discuss and debate the film. But this episode is also an examination of how fans perceive super hyped and pivotal pieces of comic book entertainment. They can’t just be stand-alone pieces of entertainment and satisfying by their own standards. No, now each comic book movie is supposed to advance its main narrative while also planting seeds for future stories and weaving important sections of a grand tapestry we’ll be able to see later. But for now, all across a reactionary internet the neckbeards and the culture warriors have to have their say about its relative “wokeness” for good or ill. The hardcore “comics theorists” must swoop in to decide whether or not they are mad that the story wasn’t based on their favorite five comics or the fan fic they’ve been working on for years. And all of a sudden it’s not “just a movie” anymore. Well here it’s a goddang movie and this is what we had to say about it and how it may set up a new status quo in the MCU.

There are superheroes who fly through the sky, run fast enough to time travel and save the world on a daily basis. These are not them. This conversation concerns “The Greatest Street Level Superheroes.” Does Batman count? Isn’t it weird how many of the street-level superheroes in DC are just members of the Bat family? Is Spider-Man ”street level?” Kevin Feige thinks so. Do we? How many street-level heroes have transcended being street-level? Was that good for those characters? “The Greatest Comic Book Movies By Decade Part IV” ….boy we really thought we could do this in like one or two episodes, tops. But no, around 2016 they started making so many damn comic book movies it was like a nuclear arms race!! Captain America: Civil War and Batman vs Superman coming out in the same year???? Madness. From Suicide Squad and Antman Quantum of Solace (or whatever) to bangers like Enter The Spiderverse and Infinity War this half decade was amazing for the genre. We sift through the Bronze Age of comic book movies in an attempt to determine the cream of the crop according to our specific and well-refined tastes. Cool offbeat gems like James Gunn’s Super are discussed as well. Which Greatest Pod member cried during Man of Steel? Who reeeeeaaaallly likes Amazing Spider-Man? This is “The Greatest Comic Book Movies By Decade Part 2”. We discussed everything from 2000 to 2009. From Unbreakable and X-Men to The Dark Knight and Iron Man. This was the decade when comic book flicks shifted into overdrive. The progression of the comic book movie was almost exponential after 2000 and even small graphic novels started being made into truly great movies. So enjoy this ultra mega-sized ep and tune in for Part 3 next week! From Iron Man to The Dark Knight Rises there were so many good movies that came out.
**Half of this ep Ed was on the road so his sound is not super great but in the second half he’s back in the studio and regardless THE WHOLE TIME the conversation is EXCELLENT so get over it, pal!**

We’ve decided to call this one “The Greatest Comic Book Movies By Decade Part 1”. We discuss everything from the 70's to the 90’s explosion in this one. There’s more to discuss than you think. The genre evolved in fits and starts. Each stage was noteworthy and frankly thrilling to examine. This mega-sized episode is equal parts nostalgia and analysis. We even coined the phrase “reverse comic book movie” in this one. Truly a fun conversation full of notable low lights (There were 3 Darkman movies) as well as seminal highs (Blade, Superman, Batman 89 and The Crow). Listening to this one will let you know that the progression of the comic book movie wasn’t just a boring slog until Blade. It’s a living evolution that many of us were privy to but many of you weren’t. So enjoy this one and tune in for Part 2 next week!

“The Greatest Spider-Man Villains” are characters who show the fortitude and ethos of Spider-Man as a character. Many of them are old dudes jealous of this teen with superpowers. He’s Marvel’s flagship character but to them, he’s often a nuisance, a “fly in the ointment” ruining their plans for world (or more likely citywide) domination. Some of them are only alive because Spider-Man refuses to punch their heads off while others are so much more powerful than Spidey that they still haunt his nightmares. All of them form the fraternity that we discuss in this episode. In the end, I’d wager our top Parker villains mesh with those of our audience but If we didn’t talk about your personal favorite Spidey foe then chances are we don’t like ‘em.
