The Greatest Werewolves” Who are they and what makes them the greatest? Producer Bill and Ed Greer asked each other that for about an hour and this is what they’ve come up with. This is the guys recalling some of the most compelling werewolves they’ve come across in pop culture from The Howling to the Thriller video. The “greatest werewolves of our lives” could have been the title of this but they thought it sounded weird. A bonus about this episode is how many movie pitches it contains including the guys resurrecting 80’s hit Manimal!!! This one’s really fun and just know that whatever your choice is for greatest lycanthrope, they probably forgot about that one. Sorry! It’s still a damn good listen.

Is She-Hulk The Greatest

WIth the debut of her new show and the controversy it has caused, the question, “Is She Hulk The Greatest?” has never been more timely. This is the boys talking about She Hulk as a unique entertainment product and a symbol of the present day Marvel Universe. This being the MCU’s first foray into straight comedy, the show and the character have their detractors. But what is it about this particular version of a “smart hulk” that makes her so much cooler than A-Bomb or The Abomination? Is her twerking an Abomination? We wax rhapsodic (well Ed does) about when we first met the jade giantess and how that version compares to the business woman she’s portrayed as today. The character broke new ground and the fourth wall (years before Deapool thank you very much) and now it seems like her time to shine. So join us as we try to dissect the appeal of the FOURTH best lawyer in the Marvel universe behind Dr. Doom’s Lawyer, Tony Stark’s, and of course Mat Murdock. She’s gonna kill us for saying that.

We certainly meant to only talk about “The Greatest NON Marvel or DC Superheroes”, but this
king-sized ep has many digressions. This one is Ed Greer and Producer Bill at their most
effusive and nostalgic. Some of the characters we mention are just great character designs,
some are the whole package with stories that match their brilliant art. We also talk about some
creators who should’ve just shut up and ate their food instead of sabotaging their careers or
starting stupid ass GATE groups. This one‘s long, strong, and down to get the friction on. And

The Greatest Superman Analogues

Who are “The Greatest Superman Analogues”? What makes a good one? Are there any that are as resonant as the original superhero? These are the questions we ask in this episode and the answers may surprise you. In modern times it seems as though we want to deconstruct everything and the Superman mythos is certainly one of the easiest targets. Why not make a character that looks like the big blue boy scout but he lasers people to death or runs a criminal cabal or serves an alien race instead of championing Truth Justice and whatever the hell? It’s fun to subvert a wholesomeness we’ve come to see as trite in our cynical age. This conversation shows just how hard it is to deconstruct/reconstruct one’s own ubermensch. Superman analogues have been featured in some of the best and some of the worst comics. So listen as we try to get down to which of these shadows of the original man of steel make the cut as their own characters and not just pale imitations.

Are Comic Book Movies The Greatest for Comics

“Are Comic Book Movies & TV The Greatest For Comics?” Comics Book movies are huge but are comic books themselves? Are comics actually reaping the proper benefits for being the medium that fuels the present slate of movies/TV for the biggest studios? This is what we discuss and debate this episode. We also get into what we’d do if we ran THE BIG 2. We definitely don’t have it figured out but it was a fun thought experiment. This was also taped during the fallout of Discovery purchasing Warner Bros so you get our reaction to that as well. Our math may be fuzzy and our understanding slight, but we really are trying to determine whether comic book movies are helping or harming the comic BOOK industry now and for the future.

Is Jack Kirby’s New Gods The Greatest

The New Gods represent Jack Kirby, a comic savant, at the height of his powers with almost no oversight. Darkseid, Orion, Mr. Miracle, Big Barda, and other New Gods introduced in his proposed miniseries in the 70’s still loom over DC Comics continuity to this day.  There’s a clear case to be made that Kirby’s saga about the next generation of celestial deities inspired Star Wars. The power of the ideas Kirby introduced and the stealth cultural impact of these characters has us asking, “Is Jack Kirby’s New Gods The Greatest?”

Is Tom Cruise The Greatest

There are movie stars who come along, delight us, then exit the center stage fairly quickly. Then there are character actors with decades-long careers. There are even movie stars who shine for decades and they are the true greats. Then there’s Tom F–ing Cruise. He’s been famous for as long as many of us have been alive and he seems to be getting stronger through the ages. He’s gone from youthful heartthrob to reliable cipher, to super producer and the American answer to Jackie Chan in the Mission Impossible franchise. This convo spans his career. Of course, we don’t get into every movie and of course, we spoil Top Gun Maverick a bit towards the end. But c’mon you knew he was gonna win in the end because that’s what he does. Yes, we talk about the much-maligned sequels including the most recent one, but chief in this dissection is the arguably “perfect” first movie and the ripples we are still feeling from its seismic pop cultural impact.
